IT services for business: what they cover, when you need them, what you pay for
“IT services” is not one job but several distinct directions that solve different problems. Development builds what does not exist yet. Infrastructure keeps it running. Security checks which doors are open. Support and consulting make sure the system does not freeze a year after launch. Companies rarely need every direction at once — here is how to work out which one you need.

The four directions IT support is made of
The first direction is development: business systems for accounting and sales, web and mobile apps, APIs and integrations between what you already run, and AI agents for repetitive enquiries. The second is infrastructure: servers, monitoring, backups and CI/CD — everything without which code stays a set of files on a disk. The third is security: access audits, checking code and infrastructure for vulnerabilities, separating permissions. The fourth is support and consulting: support with a fixed SLA, refactoring of legacy modules, technical optimisation and help choosing solutions. These directions do not replace each other: development without infrastructure never launches, and a system without support stops matching your processes within a year.
When to start with an audit and when to start building
If something already runs in the company — an old system, a couple of websites, data exchange through spreadsheet exports — starting from scratch is almost always more expensive than it looks. In that case the first step is an audit: we look at the code, the load, the access rights and the bottlenecks, and afterwards it becomes clear that two modules need rewriting while the rest can stay. If the process still lives in messengers and in people’s heads, there is nothing to audit — then we go straight to development, but we start by describing the processes rather than the interfaces. The difference in money is real: an audit plus refactoring usually costs a fraction of a new system.
What the price is made of and how we work
The price depends on three things: how much logic there is, how many systems to integrate with, and your availability requirements. One-off work — development, an audit, a migration — is quoted per project. Running it — servers, monitoring, support — is monthly, because it is not a one-off action. The sequence of steps is the same in every service: an audit or discovery, a plan and an estimate, work in two-week iterations with a staging site you can open any day, release, and support under an SLA.
